Manuel Antonio packs an impressive range of activities into a small area. The national park is the obvious centrepiece, but the surrounding coast and rivers offer plenty to fill extra days.
River rafting on the Savegre River suits all experience levels, with operators based in Quepos. Kayaking along the coast is a good way to reach beaches that are harder to access on foot. Canopy zip-line tours through the rainforest canopy are popular with all ages, and horseback riding through the hills offers a quieter perspective on the landscape. Inside the park, self-guided nature hikes are excellent — hire a local guide at the entrance if you want to actually spot the wildlife rather than walk past it.
