The dry season (December to April) is peak tourist season — sunny skies, clear water for diving, and the highest visitor numbers. January and February are the busiest months. Accommodation prices are highest and the park entrance queue longest in this period.
The rainy season (May to November) brings daily afternoon showers but also lusher, greener rainforest, far fewer tourists, and lower prices. Mornings are usually clear. July and August bring whales to the offshore waters. The rains rarely last all day, and a rainy season visit to Manuel Antonio can be the better experience — you will share the park with fewer people and the wildlife is no less active.
The park is closed Mondays for maintenance throughout the year.
