Monteverde Travel and Adventure is a Santa Elena operation running guided birdwatching and natural-history walks in the cloud forest reserves, plus the night tour, which is the one most people underestimate — the forest after dark is a different animal entirely, with tarantulas, sloths, kinkajous and the occasional viper.
The guides are local and certified, and quetzal season runs roughly February to July when the birds come down to nest.
