Marina Pez Vela

Marina Pez Vela is the modern face of Quepos: a deep-water marina opened in 2010 just south of the old downtown, with around 200 slips for sport-fishing boats and yachts and a row of restaurants and bars overlooking the basin. It is the busiest sport-fishing port on Costa Rica's central Pacific coast and the place to walk along in the late afternoon when the day's charters come in and the fishermen unload sailfish and dorado on the quay.

Even if you have no interest in chartering a boat, the marina makes a pleasant sundowner stop — half a dozen open-air bars share the boardwalk and the sunsets over the harbour mouth are reliably good. The official tourist information office on the marina is the most useful in town.
