Café Italiano

The Italian founders of San Vito brought their coffee culture with them, and Café Italiano carries that tradition forward. The espresso here is made with local Coto Brus beans and pulled properly — short, dark, served in a small cup. It is one of the few places in southern Costa Rica where you can get coffee that would not embarrass a bar in the Veneto.

The café is small and simple, with a few tables and the steady hiss of a proper espresso machine. It serves light food alongside the coffee — pastries in the morning, perhaps a sandwich later in the day. A useful stop before heading out to the Wilson Gardens or after the long bus journey in from San Isidro.
