Río Pacuare Rafting

Top-rated Class III-IV whitewater through jungle gorge

The Pacuare is one of the top whitewater rivers in Central America — Class III–IV rapids through a deep jungle gorge, with waterfalls and primary rainforest on both banks. The standard run is done as a day trip from Turrialba or San José, taking around 4–5 hours on the water. Multi-day trips are also available, camping or staying at a lodge in the gorge. Go with a licensed outfitter; there are several reliable ones based in town.
