Beaches

The main Varadero beach runs the full length of the north shore — 20 km of white sand and clear water. The western end nearest Varadero town is quieter; the resort section in the middle is busier but has more water sports rental. The eastern end near the ecological reserve is the most undeveloped stretch.

The water is warm, shallow, and clear throughout. The Caribbean shelf here is broad and gentle, making the sea unusually calm and safe for swimming. Snorkelling is good close to shore; scuba diving from the over 30 sites offshore is among the best in Cuba.
