The Hicacos Peninsula is long and thin — about 20 km from end to end — so getting around requires some thought. The Varadero Bus Tour runs a hop-on hop-off service along the peninsula from the Varadero town end to Mansión Xanadu, stopping at the main resorts, Parque Josone, and the ecological reserve. It's reliable and reasonably priced.
Taxis (both official and private) are plentiful and easy to hail. Agree on the fare before getting in. Bicycle and scooter rental is available from several points along the beach strip — a good option for exploring at your own pace. Horse-drawn caleches operate in Varadero town and are a slow but atmospheric way to move around that end of the peninsula.
