Shopping in Varadero is mostly resort-style: souvenir stalls, rum and cigar shops, and the Plaza Americas mall at the resort end of the strip. The best single purchase is Cuban cigars from Casa del Habano, where the selection is genuine and the staff can advise. Rum is available everywhere and is considerably cheaper than abroad — Ron Santiago and Havana Club are the main brands worth taking home.
