Eating Out

Santiago Atitlán has a modest selection of restaurants, most aimed at the day-visitor trade from Panajachel. The restaurants along the waterfront below the dock offer good lake views and straightforward Guatemalan food — grilled meats, rice, beans, and the occasional fresh fish. For a longer stay, the comedor (basic Guatemalan eatery) options in town are cheaper and more authentic than the waterfront places.
