Lake Yojoa Day Trip

Lake Yojoa, Honduras's largest natural lake, lies about 60 kilometers north of Comayagua and is one of the most scenic spots in the country. The lake is surrounded by mountains, including Cerro Azul Meámbar National Park to the east and Santa Bárbara National Park to the west. Birding is exceptional — over 400 species have been recorded around the lake.

D&D Brewery, a well-known expat-run brewery on the lake's eastern shore, is a popular base for travelers. From Comayagua, Lake Yojoa makes a manageable day trip or an easy stop en route to San Pedro Sula. The road north from Comayagua passes through the mountains before dropping down to the lake.
