A small museum with one of the more interesting collections in Honduras: gold and silver religious objects, colonial-era paintings, liturgical vestments, and wooden sculpture from the 16th to 18th centuries. The collection reflects Comayagua's importance as the colonial capital and bishop's seat — wealthy donors and the church itself accumulated significant artistic wealth here.
The museum occupies a colonial-era building near the cathedral. The scale is manageable — you can see it properly in under an hour — and the quality of the individual objects is higher than the modest surroundings might suggest. Worth combining with a visit to the cathedral next door.
