Tela's eating is Honduran with a strong Garifuna influence — heavy on seafood, coconut, plantains, and cassava. The cheapest and best meals are at the family-run comedores along the malecón and out in Tornabé and Triunfo de la Cruz.
Order tapado, the Caribbean coconut seafood stew with fish, shrimp and yuca; sopa marinera; or fried whole fish with patacones (twice-fried plantain). Sundays are quieter — many places shut early.
