Tela sits on the CA-13 coastal highway, about 90 minutes by bus or car from San Pedro Sula's airport and a little over an hour from La Ceiba. Direct buses connect all three towns several times a day.
Tela's own small airport handles occasional charters but no scheduled flights. From the Bay Islands, take a Galaxy Wave ferry from Roatán to La Ceiba and continue overland by bus.
A note on safety: highway robbery on stopped buses has been a problem at times, so use direct ("directo") services rather than local ones that stop everywhere.
