Tornabé is the Garifuna village on the western edge of Tela's bay, where the road peters out into sand and palm trees and a long, almost empty beach. The atmosphere is laid-back and the seafood — fried fish, sopa marinera, coconut rice — is the best in the area.
Many Punta Sal boat tours leave from here. Most visitors stop for a swim and a late lunch. There are basic guesthouses if you want to stay the night and listen to the surf.
