The Ocho Rios Jerk Centre is a cluster of open-air stalls near the town centre that serves as the most accessible introduction to genuine Jamaican jerk for visitors. The stalls compete directly with each other, which keeps standards and prices honest. Chicken is the main offering, cooked over charcoal in the open, with whole fish and lobster appearing in the evenings. Portions are generous.
It lacks the specialist pimento-wood cooking of Scotchies, and the location is more tourist-facing, but the food is solid and considerably better value than the hotel restaurants. A good place to eat before or after a day at the falls, without spending much. The stalls open mid-morning and run until late evening.
