Day Trips

Ocho Rios — 16 km west, around 20 minutes by car. The main resort town on the north coast, busier and more commercial than Oracabessa. Worth visiting for Dunn's River Falls (a popular climb up a terraced waterfall), the craft markets, and the general infrastructure of a larger town. Good base for onward transport.

Port Antonio — 50 km east, around an hour. A more relaxed and less developed alternative to Ocho Rios, with the Blue Lagoon (a freshwater-fed bay of extraordinary colour), Reach Falls in the interior, and a stretch of coast that feels less touched by mass tourism. Often described as the most beautiful part of Jamaica.

Blue Mountains — 2–3 hours south, depending on where you start. Jamaica's highest terrain, with hiking trails, coffee estates (the Blue Mountain blend is among the best in the world), and views across the island on clear days. The peak reaches 2,256 m and the lower slopes are cool enough to be a genuine respite from the coast.

Nine Mile — Bob Marley's birthplace and mausoleum, inland in St Ann parish, roughly 90 minutes from Oracabessa by road. The site is managed as a heritage attraction; guided tours cover the compound where he was born and where his body was returned. Essential for anyone with an interest in Marley or reggae history.
