Perched on a hillside 360 metres above Acapulco, the Capilla de la Paz offers the best panoramic view in the city. The contemporary chapel — all clean lines and white stone — is notable less for its architecture than for its position: from the terrace, the entire arc of Acapulco Bay spreads out below, from the old town in the west to the hotel strip and Diamante zone in the east.
The 40-metre cross beside the chapel is visible from much of the city and from the bay. The site is a short drive or taxi ride up from the hotel zone — the road winds steeply through quiet residential streets. Come in the late afternoon when the light is golden and the heat has eased.
