Villa Rica Mocambo

A long-running seafood palapa above Playa Mocambo, with picture windows on the sea side and a louvred roof that catches the breeze. The kitchen leans more contemporary than Pardiño's — grilled octopus, tiraditos, a respectable tuna tartare — but the local classics are still done well. Service is unhurried, which suits a long lunch.

The bar list includes a credible mojito and the only consistently cold beer on the Mocambo seafront. Best on weekday afternoons when the day-trippers have not yet arrived. Address: Boulevard Manuel Ávila Camacho.
