Boca del Río is the seafood capital of the Veracruz metropolitan area. The classic stretch of mariscos restaurants runs along Avenida 1 de Mayo and across the bridge along the Veracruz malecón. The signature dishes are huachinango a la veracruzana (red snapper baked with tomatoes, olives, and capers), arroz a la tumbada (a soupy rice with seafood), and ceviche made from whatever was landed that morning.
