The Gulf Coast of Mexico is hot and humid most of the year. Boca del Río is at its most pleasant from November through March, when the heat moderates to the high 20s °C and humidity drops a few notches. Northers (nortes) — cold fronts that push down across the Gulf — bring rain and wind for a few days at a time through the winter, but mostly the weather is sunny.
April and May are warmer but still comfortable. June through October is the rainy and hurricane season — afternoon storms, oppressive humidity, and occasional serious tropical systems. The Veracruz Carnaval, one of the largest in Latin America, falls in February or early March and is the busiest week of the year — book hotels well in advance. Easter week (Semana Santa) is also peak domestic tourism.
