When to go

Colima is warm to hot year-round. The best months are November through April, when daytime temperatures sit in the mid-twenties and the air is dry and clear — these are also the months when the volcanoes are most often visible from the city. From May through October it is hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms common in the wet months of July and August.

The biggest local festival is the Fiesta de la Virgen de Guadalupe in early February (a local variation on the December nationwide feast), which fills the streets with processions, food stalls, and live music for a week. The other notable date is the Feria de Todos los Santos at the end of October, when the city's main fairground hosts concerts, bullfights at the unusual portable bullring of La Petatera, and a long agricultural show.
