La Choza is a family-run Yucatec restaurant a few streets back from the waterfront — popular with locals, dive instructors, and the few tourists who venture beyond the malecón. The cooking is traditional Mexican home-style with an emphasis on Yucatec specialities: cochinita pibil, sopa de lima, poc chuc, and chicken in mole.
Prices are reasonable (mains around US$10–15) and portions generous. Breakfast is also good — huevos motuleños, chilaquiles, fresh juice. The dining room is unfussy with a courtyard at the back. Service is friendly but not always quick; lunch can run long.
