Estadio Tomateros is the home of the Tomateros de Culiacan, the city's beloved baseball team and one of the most decorated franchises in the Mexican Pacific League. Baseball is Sinaloa's real religion — locals follow the Tomateros with a devotion that puts football to shame in this part of Mexico — and attending a game is one of the best ways to understand the city's character. The stadium holds around 18,000 and fills on game nights from October through January, when the Pacific League season runs.
The atmosphere is genuinely festive, with food vendors circulating constantly, brass bands playing between innings, and the kind of crowd noise that reminds you this sport has deep roots in northwest Mexico. Tickets are cheap and easy to get at the gate. Check the league schedule in advance — if a game is on during your visit, go.
