Malecon and Fish Market

The Malecon is Ensenada's seafront promenade, running along Bahía de Todos Santos. The stretch closest to the town centre is the liveliest: fishing boats at anchor, pelicans on the piers, and the fish market where vendors set up tables of fresh tuna, clams, and ceviche tostadas from early morning.

The fish tacos here are widely credited as some of the best in Baja — the battered fish comes straight from the boats, and the salsa, cabbage, and crema are made to order. Pull up a stool at any of the outdoor counters and eat while looking out over the bay. Cruise ships dock at the far end of the Malecon, but the working fish market end stays resolutely local. Worth an early-morning visit before the day heats up.
