The Hotel Riviera del Pacífico is a large Spanish Colonial Revival building on the Malecon, built in the 1920s as a casino and ballroom complex. The exterior — white stucco, red tile roofs, arched colonnades — is one of the most handsome pieces of architecture in Baja California. It is now a cultural centre housing a museum, event spaces, and a bar.
The bar inside, the Salon de Fiestas, retains much of its original character: painted tiles, dark wood, murals, and a grand scale. It is a good place for a drink in the afternoon when the light comes through the arched windows. The museum section has exhibits on local history. The building faces the harbour and the gardens around it are well-maintained — walk around the outside even if you don't go in.
