La Paz has an airport south of the city with domestic flights, plus long-distance buses linking it with Los Cabos, Loreto, and the rest of the Baja peninsula. The road from Cabo San Lucas or San José del Cabo takes around two to three hours depending on traffic and stops.
Ferries connect the La Paz area with Mexico's mainland ports across the Gulf of California, mainly for travellers with vehicles or longer overland plans. Check schedules carefully; the port is outside the centre.
