Tlacolula Market

Huge Sunday market in the Oaxaca Valley, known for food, crafts, and village trade

Tlacolula's Sunday market is one of the great Oaxaca Valley market days, filling streets with produce, textiles, tools, livestock, prepared food, and shoppers from surrounding villages. It is less curated than Oaxaca city's tourist markets and better for seeing everyday regional trade in motion.

Go hungry: barbacoa, tortillas, chocolate, mezcal, and market snacks are central to the experience. The town is east of Oaxaca on the Mitla road, making it easy to combine with archaeological sites or mezcal villages.
