Saltillo's compact historic centre holds the city's main attractions — the baroque cathedral and the Plaza de Armas are the obvious starting points. The Museo del Desierto is the city's most ambitious museum, occupying a large modern building southeast of the centre. From Cerro del Pueblo, the hill on the city's eastern edge, a giant Christ statue looks down over everything.
