Things to Do

Tehuacan is worth a stop rather than a destination in its own right. The zócalo, cathedral, and mineral water history are pleasant but modest. The real draw is the surrounding Tehuacan-Cuicatlán Valley — a UNESCO World Heritage landscape of extraordinary cactus forests — and the archaeological significance of a valley where maize cultivation began.
