Entry requirements. Visa rules depend on your passport, and many visitors can enter without one for a short stay. All visitors must complete the online Digital Immigration Card. Bring a passport valid for the full stay and proof of onward or return travel, and check the official rules before departure.
Money. The currency is the Caribbean guilder (XCG, written Cg), introduced in 2025 and fixed at Cg 1.79 to US$1. US dollars are widely accepted, though change usually comes back in guilders. Cards work in most established businesses and ATMs are easy to find around Willemstad; keep small cash for buses, markets, and remote beaches.
Language. Papiamentu, Dutch, and English are official languages. Papiamentu is what you will hear most in everyday conversation, while Spanish and English are also widely understood. A friendly bon dia in the morning or danki for thank you is always appreciated.
Safety. Curaçao is generally straightforward for travellers, but theft from parked cars is a real nuisance. Leave nothing visible, especially at remote beaches and dive sites, and use attended parking when it is available. Take the usual care in quiet parts of Willemstad after dark.
Water and electricity. Tap water is desalinated, safe, and good to drink. Most sockets are US-style type A at 110–130V and 50Hz, though some properties also have European 220V outlets. Check your charger and bring an adapter if needed.
