When to Go

Curaçao is warm, sunny, and windy throughout the year, with daytime temperatures usually around 29–33°C. It lies outside the main Caribbean hurricane belt, though that does not make storms impossible. The driest stretch is roughly February to June. October to December is wetter, but rain more often arrives in short, sharp showers than in lost days.

December through April is the busiest period, with higher prices and more visitors escaping northern winter. May and June, then September through November, are generally quieter. July and August form a smaller second peak during the Dutch summer holidays.

For culture rather than weather, time your visit for Carnival, which builds for weeks and climaxes before Ash Wednesday. King's Day on 27 April brings orange-clad street celebrations. Event dates and programmes change each year, so check the island calendar before booking around a festival.
