When to Go

Curaçao lies outside the main hurricane belt, which gives it a year-round climate more reliable than most Caribbean islands. Rain is rare; temperatures hover between 26°C and 32°C all year. There is a short wet season from October to January, but showers are brief and the sun returns quickly.

The busiest period is December to April, when North American and European visitors escape winter. This is when prices peak and the best hotels book up. July and August see a second wave of visitors, mostly from the Netherlands. The quietest months are May, June, September, and October — lower prices, fewer crowds, and entirely manageable weather.

The Curaçao Carnival runs from January through to the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, with parades, music, and large outdoor parties. The Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival in August brings international acts to Willemstad.
