The colonial centre of Granada is small enough to walk comfortably. Most of the main sights are within a 15-minute walk of Parque Central.
On foot: This is the best way to explore the city. The streets are flat, the distances are short, and the architecture rewards slow walking.
Horse-drawn carriages: A Granada speciality — caballos y carruajes circle the park and can be hired for tours of the city or the short ride to the waterfront. Agree on a price before you board. A circuit of the main sights takes about 30–45 minutes.
Taxis: Cheap and plentiful. For trips to Mombacho, the lake port, or surrounding villages, a taxi or organised tour is the practical option.
Boat tours: Depart from the Granada waterfront (Puerto Asese, about 2 km from the centre) for trips to the isletas. Negotiate directly with the boat operators at the dock.
