Calle La Calzada is Granada's most photographed street — a pedestrian boulevard running east from Parque Central toward the lake, lined with low colonial buildings painted in vivid pinks, oranges, and yellows. Restaurants, bars, and craft shops occupy the ground floors, their tables spilling onto the pavement in the evenings.
The street is lively after dark and a natural gathering point for travellers. It is worth walking all the way to the lake end, where the road widens into a small waterfront plaza with views across Lago de Nicaragua and the hulk of Mombacho volcano beyond. The sunsets from here, with the lake reflecting the colours of the sky, are consistently good.
