Condado's bar scene runs from hotel rooftop pools charging resort prices to the more egalitarian spillover from La Placita de Santurce next door. The neighborhood's main contribution to San Juan nightlife is the Ashford Avenue strip after midnight — noisy, crowded, and fueled by rum in various combinations. For something with more local character, the Santurce side is the better choice. Condado's cafes are mostly hotel-adjacent and oriented toward guests; the better independent coffee is a few blocks away in Santurce.
