Orocovis

Puerto Rican mountain town of ziplines, roadside waterfalls, and Cordillera Central views.

Orocovis sits high in Puerto Rico's Cordillera Central, far enough from the coast that the island feels different: cooler air, tight mountain roads, roadside waterfalls, and small restaurants built around longaniza and slow afternoons.

The town has one very loud draw, Toro Verde, where the ziplines turn the ridges into a playground. But Orocovis is more than an adventure stop. Chorro de Dona Juana drops beside the road in Toro Negro country, the Ruta Panoramica gives you some of the island's best mountain driving, and the town plaza still feels like the centre of a working interior municipality.

Come with daylight, patience, and a driver who is comfortable with hairpins. The roads are part of the trip, but they are narrow, steep, and not something to rush after rain.
