Port of Spain is served by Piarco International Airport (POS), about 25 km east of the city. Direct flights operate from London, New York, Miami, and Toronto, as well as regional connections throughout the Caribbean. The drive from the airport takes 30–45 minutes depending on traffic, which can be considerable.
Taxis from the airport are unmetered; agree on the fare before you get in. A fixed-rate taxi service also operates from the airport. Avoid the unlicensed touts who approach you in the arrivals hall.
By sea, the Port of Spain ferry terminal connects to Scarborough in Tobago. The crossing takes about 5.5 hours; a faster express ferry operates but has limited sailings.
