Providenciales has its own international airport (PLS) with direct flights from the US, Canada, and the UK. American Airlines, Delta, United, British Airways, and Air Canada all serve the island. Flight time from Miami is about 80 minutes; from New York around 3 hours; from London about 9 hours direct.
There is no affordable public transport from the airport. Taxis are plentiful and prices are fixed by the government; most hotels offer a shuttle. Car hire is available at the airport and makes exploring the island significantly easier.
Ferries connect Providenciales to North Caicos and Middle Caicos for day trips; the ferry dock is at the Heaving Down Rock on the north coast. Boat charters to more remote islands like West Caicos, French Cay, and South Caicos can be arranged through most dive operators.
