Girdwood Airport

Girdwood Airport is a small state-owned single-strip airfield three miles northeast of the village. There is no scheduled commercial service; the airport handles light aircraft, charter flights, and the occasional flightseeing tour out over the Chugach and Prince William Sound.

For visitors, the airport is mostly interesting as a takeoff point for glacier-landing tours and bear-viewing flights to the west side of Cook Inlet. Several Anchorage-based operators stage out of here in summer.
