North Kaibab Trail

The North Kaibab Trail is the North Rim's great descent into the Grand Canyon, dropping from the rim toward Roaring Springs, Bright Angel Creek, and eventually the Colorado River. Even short hikes from the trailhead give a very different canyon experience from the busier South Rim trails.

It is steep, remote, and serious desert hiking. Summer heat can be dangerous below the rim, water availability changes by season, and day hikers should choose conservative turnaround points rather than underestimating the climb back out.
