Mesa Arizona Temple is one of the city's defining landmarks, a broad, pale Latter-day Saint temple set in carefully maintained gardens just east of downtown. Non-members do not enter the temple itself, but the grounds, reflecting pools, and visitor center make it a worthwhile architectural and cultural stop.
The temple is especially pleasant in the cooler parts of the day, when the desert light catches the building's clean lines and the gardens are easy to linger in. It also helps explain Mesa's long Mormon history, which is still visible in the city's street grid, family culture, and older civic institutions.
