Getting around Eureka Springs without a car is surprisingly manageable for a small Ozark town. The Eureka Springs Trolley runs three colour-coded routes through the historic district and surrounding areas from spring through autumn, making it possible to reach the main sights — including the Crescent Hotel, the Christ of the Ozarks, and the historic downtown — without navigating the town's notoriously steep and winding roads yourself. A day pass is good value.
The historic downtown is compact and walkable, but the terrain is serious: the streets climb and descend sharply, and what looks like a short distance on a map can involve significant elevation change. Good footwear is worth the effort. A car is necessary for reaching outlying attractions such as Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge, Blue Springs Heritage Center, and Thorncrown Chapel. Parking is available in several lots near the historic district, though it gets tight in peak summer months.
