Natural Bridges State Beach is one of Santa Cruz's most rewarding coastal stops, named for the surviving natural rock arch just offshore. The beach is compact but varied, with sand, tide pools, seabirds, and a coastline that feels wilder than the Boardwalk end of town.
In winter, the park is also known for monarch butterflies in the eucalyptus grove, though numbers vary from year to year. Check tide times if you want tide pooling, and bring layers; the west side can turn cool and windy even when downtown feels warm.
