Reedley's location at the edge of the San Joaquin Valley puts several worthwhile destinations within easy reach.
Kings Canyon National Park is about 50 miles east on Highway 180 — a drive of roughly an hour. The canyon itself is one of the deepest in North America, with granite walls rising above the Kings River. In summer the road to Cedar Grove is open, giving access to the canyon floor. This is a significant step up in scale and scenery from anything in the valley.
Sequoia National Park adjoins Kings Canyon and can be combined in the same trip. The Giant Forest contains some of the largest trees on Earth, including the General Sherman Tree. The drive from Reedley takes about 90 minutes.
Fresno (25 miles northwest) has the regional concentration of services, restaurants, and cultural institutions. The Fresno Chaffee Zoo, the Forestiere Underground Gardens, and the Tower District neighborhood are all worth time if you are spending more than a day in the area.
Kingsburg (10 miles north on Highway 99) is a small town with a strong Swedish immigrant heritage and a preserved downtown that leans into that history more deliberately than most. It makes for a pleasant 30-minute detour.
