Eating Out

Reedley's dining scene is modest and unpretentious — a reflection of the working agricultural community it serves. Mexican restaurants and taquerias are the dominant presence, catering to the large Latino workforce that has long been central to the valley's harvests. G Street and Manning Avenue have the main concentration of restaurants.

The area's real culinary highlight is the produce itself. Farm stands around Reedley sell stone fruit — peaches, nectarines, plums — that were on the tree days or hours earlier, at a quality that bears no resemblance to what ends up in distant supermarkets. If you visit between June and September, budget time for a roadside stop.
