The Reedley Museum occupies an older downtown building and tells the story of the town's growth from a railroad stop to a thriving agricultural community. Exhibits cover the immigrant communities — Mennonites, Swedes, and others — who settled the area in the late 1800s, the development of the fruit-packing industry, and everyday life in the San Joaquin Valley before mechanization transformed farming.
It is a small-town local history museum, which means the exhibits are uneven in quality and the collection reflects what residents donated over the years. But the agricultural history is genuinely interesting, and the museum staff tend to be knowledgeable and eager to talk.
