Nevada City's historic downtown is small enough to cover on foot in an afternoon. The Firehouse Museum and Miners Foundry are both within a few blocks of Broad Street. For bigger ambitions, the drive to Malakoff Diggins is one of the better half-day excursions in the Gold Country.
