Temple sources single-origin beans with the same rigour a fine wine producer applies to grapes, and the cafés serve filter coffee alongside espresso drinks. The roastery on S Street is the original and the best equipped, with a long bar where baristas will explain the extraction method if you ask.
The coffee is excellent by any standard, not merely excellent by Sacramento standards — Temple has won national barista competitions and roasts for restaurants around California. The atmosphere is calmer than San Francisco's more performatively artisanal coffee shops. Good place to work if you need wifi and quiet on a weekday morning.
