The Kitchen Restaurant

Sacramento's most celebrated restaurant, running a single-seating prix fixe dinner in an open kitchen format where the chefs interact with guests throughout the meal. The Kitchen has been at the forefront of Sacramento's farm-to-fork movement since 1991, sourcing almost everything from the Central Valley, and the menu changes completely each week to reflect what is at peak ripeness.

The experience is theatre as much as dining — guests sit at tables arranged around the kitchen, and the chefs narrate the meal as they cook. Reservations are required and typically need to be made weeks in advance. Expensive by Sacramento standards but competitive with comparable experiences in San Francisco.
